Retouching and Correcting Digital Images Photoshop Elements Tutorial

Every photographer;knows thatdigitalcameras can take some incredible pictures; unfortunately this doesn't always happen with EVERY photo. Fortunately PhotoshopElements has all the toolsnecessary to make the ordinary photoextraordinary.

The best placeto beginis to understandwhatyou are seeingon yourscreenwhen you open up Elements and to become familiar with the toolsyou will be using.

Leveling Your Image by Cropping: No photographer;, whether amateur or professional, gets their imagesperfect the first time around. As a matterof fact, from whatI havelearned, 95% of the people who use either Photoshopor PhotoshopElements do so in order to correct the imagesthey havetaken. After taking yourphotos;you undoubtedly will findthatthere couldhavebeen things doneto enhance the photoor things you wouldwant to change if you couldredo the shot. Whether it was zooming, cropping or rotating the photo, you undoubtedly mighthavedoneit better if you had a second chance. Typicallymostdigitalcameras havea ratio of 4:3 whichmeans;(4 unitswideby 3 unitshigh)the standard printsize is 6x4, whichis a ratio of 3:2 (3 unitswideby 2 unitshigh). To alter yourimage usingthe aspectratio dialog box. Ifthere are items in yourphotowhichdistract from yoursubjectyou may want to crop yourimage or phototo eliminate the distraction. Simply open the aspectratio dialog box by clicking on image then crop. At the top of the dialog box you should see a widthand a height box and you can work these in inches or centimeters. To select inches justtype in "in" and for centimeters justtype in "cm".

Elements automatically re-samples yourimage or phototherefore I never enter anything in the resolution box.
